After gaining knowledge on Saraswati day, the Balinese will use this knowledge to “sharpen their mind” as they believe that the mind is their greatest weapon. By “sharpening their mind”, the Balinese hope to gain more aptitude in overcoming problems in life such as poverty, ignorance …

In earlier times, Tumpek Landep was asking for God’s blessing on weapons such as the Keris (double bladed dagger), rifles, spears, knives etc. …

Nowadays, Balinese will still bless these traditional weapons (the Bali police will bless their gun arsenal) but more so bless weapons or tools that support daily human life such as their cars, motorbikes, kitchen equipment and many others.

If you’re out and about, you will see that most cars, motorbikes and even trucks are beautifully decorated with lavish offerings and decorations made out of woven palm leaves that will be hung from the rear-view mirrors and grill of the car or motorbikes.
